Soul Ties Spiritual Meaning: What Does Soul Ties Mean?

Soul mate, twin flame, soul ties… It seems that there are so many words for the same thing, doesn’t it?

No wonder we’re all a little spiritually confused.

Would you believe me if I told you that there were differences between them all?

Soul ties are different from twin flames, but they are similar. And a soul tie doesn’t always mean a soul mate, but it can.

Why don’t we separate what’s real from what’s not and get to the bottom of this spiritual pairing?

What are Soul Ties?

Soul Ties

Soul ties are, quite literally, a tie your soul has, to something or someone. For the purpose of this article, we’re going to be talking specifically about soul ties in terms of a person. So, it’s a tie that your soul has to another person.

You can have a soul tie with a wide variety of people.

These people can be:

  • Friends;
  • Relatives;
  • Coworkers;
  • Lovers;
  • Almost-lovers;
  • Complete strangers;
  • And more.

Whomever they are and whatever they are to you, it feels as though you are drawn to the person (or people) in ways you can’t understand, let alone explain.

Have you ever felt like that about someone?

As though the two of you were always destined to meet, with common factors that extend far beyond movies, music, and shared activities?

Find out if it’s possible to feel someone thinking of you!

What Does Soul Ties Mean Spiritually?

What Does Soul Ties Mean Spiritually?

Soul ties are relationships (ties) that enable you to develop, grow, and learn. This will, of course, mean many different things for many different people

There are different kinds of soul ties, referring to different types of people you’ll encounter throughout your life.

The four kinds are:

  • Social (friends, coworkers, acquaintances);
  • Spiritual;
  • Emotional (love – not always romantic);
  • Physical (lovers).

You can have a soul tie that’s also a soul mate, and you can also have a twin flame soul tie with someone, too.

Celebrity couple Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly are self-confessed twin flames.

They have the twin flame connection that ties their souls together.

I have experienced at least one soul tie myself. It was with a member of the opposite sex, and it was purely platonic. It stayed that way for two decades before, just like that, the tie was broken.

That can happen sometimes. Soul ties aren’t always soul ties for life, and they aren’t always particularly good for you.

It’s designed to teach you something, whether you recognize that or not. Once the learning process is over and you have learned all that you are supposed to, the process is complete.

Some soul ties do last forever!

My Great-Grandparents were a prime example of that.

They only had eyes for each other after meeting at 14 or 15 years of age.

They were married at 18, had two children by their mid-twenties, and were happily married right up until they died, 48 days apart, aged in the eighties.

How Do You Know if You Have a Soul Tie?

Spiritual conection between two people

The soul tie connection is more than just a like, or love, or even lust. It’s a spiritual connection, much deeper and stronger than physical or mental attraction

It’ll likely feel as though you’ve known the person for years even though you’ve only just met them, and that’s because your souls have always known each other.

They’ve always been destined to cross paths.

You just didn’t realize it until it was, quite literally, right in front of your face.

Here are a few other common symptoms of finding your soul tie:

  1. Thinking about them all the time;
  2. Wanting to spend as much of your time with them as possible;
  3. Buying them little gifts just to see them smile;
  4. Going out of your way to get them something they need or help them in some way;
  5. Enjoying spending time with them so much, time literally flies;
  6. Constantly finding new things in common;
  7. Finishing each other’s sentences or knowing what the other is going to say;
  8. Doing or saying the same thing at the same time;
  9. Lots of little life ‘signs’ that remind you of them;
  10. They appeared in your life at a ‘big’ or important time;
  11. You’ve never experienced a friendship or bond like it with anyone else;
  12. When they’re gone, you feel like you’re missing something

In reality, you will know when you have a soul tie.

Things will just seem really obvious.

The fact that you have so much in common, always get along, and keep experiencing these little weird coincidences will leave you with no option but to believe the two of you are tied at the souls.

So, now we’ve established that you probably do have a soul tie situation going on, why don’t we take a closer look at what it means.

We should also talk about what to do once you realize the soul tie… and what not to do.

You Have a Lesson that Needs to Be Learned:

Soul ties should be seen as lessons.

That person is going to enter your life and teach you something.

The lesson won’t be obvious at first, of course. Some lessons take years, and perhaps even decades before they become clear.

Eventually, though, you will see it, and you will learn it.

Sometimes, the learning can be painful – but that’s all part of the learning process.

It’s Time to Learn How to Compromise:

How are your compromising skills? Give them a rating out of ten

If that number is any less than say, six or seven, you might need to start learning how to compromise a little more, or a little better.

If you have met a romantic soul tie, that you believe could also be your soul mate and the one you’re meant to spend the rest of your life with, there’s going to be some changes in your future

You will need to learn how to accommodate them just as much as they’re going to need to learn how to accommodate you.

And in relationships, accommodating means compromising.

Relationships are hard work, whether they’re friendships, love-relationships, or another type. In love relationships, you’re going to get up close and personal with someone’s best side… and their worst. In order to love them, and really love them, you’ll need to love all of them.

Sometimes, that can mean overlooking little things that you otherwise wouldn’t, or learning to work with them in the same way they’re trying to work with you. (If they are.)

If you don’t work at keeping that soul tie, you may find that you lose it – and that works for both sides.

You Knew Your Soul Tie in a Past Life:

When it feels like you’ve known someone for a hundred years even though you haven’t, maybe you actually have…

I know that doesn’t make a lot of sense, but it starts to make more sense when you think of things from a past life perspective.

Maybe, just maybe, that person – your soul tie – feels so familiar and comfortable to you, because you’ve already met them.

You’ve already come to know them. Perhaps you’ve already come to love them?

We can’t prove the existence of past lives, but we can’t disprove them, either.

Could it be the case that you really have known your soul tie for a hundred years?

A Soul Tie Can Be Bad:

When we think of soul ties, we automatically assume that the experience is going to be a good and pleasant one, but that’s not always the case.

You can have a soul tie with someone you don’t like, are fearful of, or have other negative feelings towards

Again, perhaps you have met this person in a past life and you know to be wary of their actions.

It could also be that your soul already knows, on an instinctive level, that you shouldn’t trust them

Soul ties bring out the biggest and boldest of emotions within us, and they can be both positive and negative.

Many toxic relationships are soul tie relationships.

There’s an undeniable attraction on a deeper level that forces the different parties together.

Soul Tie vs Love: What’s the Difference?

Soul ties without love

You can love someone without them being your soul tie. You can also have a soul tie that you don’t love.

The two are completely different.

Having strong emotions for someone on a deeper, spiritual level than love is a feeling that doesn’t come along every day.

Haven’t you ever noticed that your love affairs from different from each other?

They’re different kinds of ties.

You can love someone without being spiritually connected to them, and it can still be a thriving, happy, healthy relationship.

You can also love (soul mate) someone and have a separate soul tie.

The soul wants what the soul wants. Who are we to deny it?

Are Soul Ties Mutual?

Changing energy with another person

In almost all cases, soul ties are mutual.

However, one or both parties can be unaware of the soul tie, or ignorant to it.

The latter can easily be the case in non-spiritual people who don’t easily pick up on spiritual signs and messages.

Two soul ties can also have differing views on the type of relationship they share, too.

For example, my soul tie and I were platonically friends for almost two decades before he burst the bubble and admitted, he had fallen in love with me. He believed that we were eventually going to be soul mates as well as soul ties, but I always knew that he’d be a friend and nothing more.

Why Do Our Souls Ties to Some and Not Others?

Broken soul tie

If our souls tied to every person we met or came across, our emotions would be in a constant state of utter turmoil.

They appear at specific times, for specific reasons, usually so that you can learn something new or grow as a person

Some people have hundreds or soul ties, but others will have none throughout their entire lives.

Then there are the people who are unaware of spirituality around them, or don’t believe in the idea of soul ties or soul mates

Can You Break a Soul Tie?

Yes, you can break a soul tie – but it will take a bit of time, effort, and will power on your part.

It will also take more than a lot of patience.

You must learn to value yourself over the other person, which is difficult when you have put them up on an emotional and spiritual pedestal.

But you MUST believe that you deserve better than what you’re getting… because you do.

Are All Soul Ties Good?

No, not all soul ties are good.

Some soul ties are bad, designed to teach you a lesson in a way that you might not always like.

Toxic relationship, co-dependency, and other attachment issues can all arise as a result of a soul tie.
