It is very difficult to see our loved ones pass away. While we mourn the death of our loved ones, several questions come to our minds.
For instance, can they see us who are still alive? Can they hear what we say to them? If the answer is yes to the first question, then we also wonder whether our loved ones in heaven pray for us.
The Bible talks about our dead loved ones who pray for us who are alive on Earth. One of the passages in the Bible speaks about how the ones who have passed away know the difficulties that we face.
The Bible further highlights how God in heaven prays for the living on Earth.
In the following section, we are going to look more into- do our loved ones in heaven pray for us or see us?
What does the Bible say about loved ones in heaven?
In the Bible, we see verses where it speaks regarding how God will remove all our tears, and there will not be death anymore. Similarly, there will not be any crying, mourning, or pain.
Therefore when our loved ones pass away to heaven, God will relieve all our pain and suffering that we go through so that we can look forward and let go of the past.
Bible also says that our departed loved ones who are in heaven are blessed. It is because they do not have to engage in labor as their time to rest has come.
Hence they will be in heaven as it is all their deeds that follow them.
Jesus Christ, the Savior with his power, will transform the lowly body of the living into the glorious body.
So, we must not feel despair when our loved ones pass away; it is because our loved ones are in heaven in their glorious bodies. Most importantly, they are with God.
The Bible further goes on to state that all things that happen are for good. Hence, God has a clear purpose when he calls our loved ones near to Him.
For this reason, we must not feel unhappy and mourn the death of our loved ones as they are with God.
Do our loved ones in heaven pray for us?
It is the Bible that tells us that our departed loved ones who are in heaven pray for us. Our loved ones can see us whenever we are going through a hard time in our lives.
Since our dead loved ones love and care for us, they pray to God on our behalf.
God hears these requests and prayers on our dead loved ones and looks after us. That is how our loved ones in heaven ask God to intervene in our lives to change a situation that is affecting us.
As a result, we can say that our departed loved ones who are in heaven pray for us.
Can people in heaven see us?
Yes, our loved ones who are in heaven can see us. However, there are some things that we all need to keep in mind.
For instance, when our loved ones pass away, their bodies get transformed into energy.
After departing, they can change their appearance and look like their young selves, or they may change their appearance to an age in which they are fulfilled and happy.
Thus, you may see them in your dreams when a loved one passes away. Additionally, you can see them standing near you.
They may also send you some signs or messages from heaven.
These are the things that enable us to understand that our loved ones can see us from heaven. After passing away, they also gain divine awareness that helps them to view their situations objectively.
Can people in heaven hear us?
Yes, people or our departed loved ones who are in heaven can hear us. So, when we are sad or going through any turmoil in our lives, we can talk to our dead loved ones.
Sometimes, they send us signs and messages to send us the guidance that we need to get over the difficult times that we are facing. On the other hand, they may also send messages and signs to show us that they are with us.
Even if they can hear us, we must not pray to them. We can send our prayers to God, who will intervene and ensure that we overcome our problems. At the same time, if we want to send a message across to our dead loved ones, we can communicate them in our prayers to God.
God will send those messages to your loved ones.
To call the dead is viewed as an occult practice, and therefore if we do so, we will be violating the Scripture.
However, if we simply want to communicate how we feel, we can talk with them. In addition, we can also talk with God, who will let our dead loved ones in heaven know what we are feeling.
Do the saints in heaven pray for us?
Catholics believe that angels and saints in heaven pray for those of us who are living on Earth. As they are nearer to the presence of God, their prayers have more power in them in comparison to our prayers.
However, since saints and angels can pray for us, we must not invoke or call upon them.
But we cannot ask the saints in heaven to pray for us. What we can do is pray to God directly. On the other hand, Saints see the hardships and difficulties that human beings go through.
Therefore, they pray to God for our well-being.
3 Bible verses concerning loved ones in Heaven
Philippians 1:21-23
21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22 If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! 23 I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far;
This Bible verse refers to the fact that us being alive means fruitful labor. In addition, when we die, we are united with God.
So, if one of our loved ones has passed away, we must be happy since they are with God in heaven. On the other hand, we must wait and engage in fruitful labor until the time comes when we are united with Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
The Bible says in this verse that we must not grieve for our dead loved ones like those who lack any hope. It is because after dying, Jesus had risen again.
He will bring in the company of him folks who are asleep.
He will descend to Earth from heaven, and His voice will be the ring of God’s trumpet. Our dead loved ones who are with God will arise first. And we will be with them to meet with God.
1 Corinthians 15:42-44
42 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; 43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body.
In this verse, we know about the dead’s resurrection. What is sown becomes perishable and what gets raised is imperishable.
It means that our dead loved ones perish when the time comes, and they go up in heaven in spirit. It is how they become imperishable.
Final thoughts
About dead loved ones, the Bible says that we must not mourn the death of our loved ones as they are with God.
God calls our loved ones to heaven with a clear purpose.
Moreover, when our loved ones pass away, their human body gets transformed into a glorious body by God. Therefore, by mourning the death of our loved ones, we must not question the purpose of God.
Our loved ones who are in heaven can hear us. But what we need to know is that we must not pray to our departed loved ones. If we want to communicate our feelings or talk with our dead loved ones, we must pray to God.
When we call upon the dead, it is considered an act that violates the Scripture. So, we must communicate the way we feel directly to God. And, He, in turn, will send the message across to our dead loved ones.
Saints in heaven can also pray for those of us who are living on Earth. Their prayers are stronger since they are near the presence of God. But, we must only pray to God. On the other hand, the saints will see the hardships that we are facing and convey them to God.
Lastly, we mourn the death of a loved one when they pass away. But, the truth is, there is time for everything, so even if they die, it is because God had called upon them.
As a result, when they die, they do so when their time comes to answer the call of God. They are freed from their earthly labor and are called upon to rest. Thus, we must be happy for them as they are nearer to God in His city, heaven.
